Modine Manufacturing Company is recalling about 6,800 heating and cooling ventilation fans after receiving 11 reports of fires linked to the units, which have caused at least $2.7 million in property damage.
The recall centers on Airedale-branded ventilation fans installed in ClassMate and SchoolMate heat pumps, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The safety agency warned that the ventilation fan motor can short circuit if water contacts the circuit board, causing the unit to overheat and posing a serious fire hazard.
Announced on Aug. 20, 2026, the recall impacts about 6,061 units sold in the United States and roughly 735 sold in Canada.
While the resulting fires have caused severe property damage, no injuries have been reported to date.
The affected equipment is designed to supply heating, cooling and indoor air quality regulation for classrooms.
The units were sold nationwide through independent dealers between August 2013 and January 2026.
