But it also comes with risks. Researchers note that teenage car accident rates tend to increase notably over the summer months, especially serious accidents, leading some of them to refer to this as the 100 Deadly Days of Summer.

Part of the issue is that teenagers already have relatively high car accident rates, due in large part to their inexperience behind the wheel. This lack of experience leads to numerous driving mistakes as they learn, and accidents are common.

Why is the summer more dangerous?

There are a few reasons why these accident rates tend to go up in the summer, starting with the fact that young drivers have fewer obligations. When they are busy with school, it keeps them off the road. But the summer months see increased traffic from this age bracket that already has a high accident rate, so their total crash numbers climb.

Another thing to note is that accident risks go up when teenagers drive with other members of their peer group. A group of friends driving to the beach on a summer day, for example, is statistically more likely to be involved in an accident than one teenager driving by themselves.

Seeking financial compensation

Even if you are an adult driver, it is important to be wary of the risks on the road over the summer months. If you suffer injuries in an accident caused by another driver, take the time to carefully look into your options to seek financial compensation.

After an accident in New Jersey, the choices you make in the first hours and days can shape the outcome of your personal injury claim.

Delaying medical attention

Waiting too long to see a doctor is one of the most damaging steps you can take. Insurance companies use treatment gaps to argue your injuries were not serious or did not result from the accident.

Seek medical care right away and follow every treatment recommendation your doctor gives you. These medical records do critical work for your claim:

Causation link: They connect your injuries directly to the accident date.

Injury severity: They document the scope of your condition over time.

Treatment consistency: They show you are actively recovering, not exaggerating.

Gaps in your treatment timeline are hard to explain later and easy for an insurer to exploit.

Giving a recorded statement without legal guidance

An insurance adjuster may contact you soon after the accident and request a recorded statement. You are not required to provide one before speaking with an attorney. Adjusters train specifically to ask questions that minimize your payout or establish inconsistencies in your account. Route all insurer communications through a personal injury lawyer from the start.

Posting or deleting on social media

Defense attorneys and insurance investigators regularly review claimants' social media profiles. A photo of you at a family event or a comment about your recovery can be used to dispute the severity of your injuries. Deleting older posts can also create legal complications around evidence preservation. Set your accounts to private and avoid discussing your case online while your claim is active.

Accepting an early settlement offer

A fast payout may seem appealing when medical bills are piling up. However, signing an early settlement release means you surrender your right to pursue additional compensation if your condition worsens or requires further surgery. Understand the full scope of your damages before you sign anything.

New Jersey law also imposes a strict two-year statute of limitations on personal injury claims. Missing that deadline bars you from recovering any compensation at all.

Protect your claim with the right guidance

The four mistakes above are avoidable with early, informed action. Speaking with a personal injury attorney can help you understand your rights under New Jersey law. An attorney can evaluate your claim, handle insurer communications and advise you on next steps before a costly mistake is made.

Advances ranging from improved anesthesia to robotic devices that assist with particularly detail-oriented procedures help improve outcomes for patients and decrease common consequences.

Unfortunately, even with the best technology available, patients sometimes have poor outcomes after surgery. In some cases, those unfavorable outcomes are the result of a never event occurring during the procedure.

Patients who are familiar with this terminology used to describe egregious medical errors can more effectively advocate for justice when a surgical error affects them.

Never events should never happen

A never event is a medical mistake so preventable that other medical providers agree it is completely preventable with appropriate protocols. In surgical environments, the most common never events include wrong-side or wrong-site errors, where surgeons operate on the wrong location, wrong-procedure or wrong-patient errors, where they perform a procedure other than the one the patient requires, and retained foreign bodies.

Retained foreign bodies is the technical term for when a surgeon or a member of their support staff leaves items inside a patient, such as gauze or pieces of a medical balloon used during the procedure. All of those mistakes can affect the patient's recovery and may require revision procedures to effectively address. They are also all preventable with proper care by medical professionals.

When surgeons and the people assisting them with procedures make severe mistakes that result in significant consequences for patients, a medical malpractice lawsuit could potentially be an option. Reviewing the records of a surgical error with a lawyer can help affected patients and families determine if a medical professional failed to follow current best practices, and whether their situation is legally actionable as a result.

We R Nuts of Port Washington, NY, is recalling 254 units of 11 oz. bridge mix, which is a mix of peanuts, raisins, almonds, and chocolate in a clear container. The candy was sold in New Jersey through Uncle Giuseppe’s retail stores with sell-by dates ranging from Sept. 4, 2026 through Nov. 6, 2026. The sell-by date is located at the top left corner of the label.

The recall was initiated after a discrepancy in the label’s ingredient list was discovered during an inspection of the facility’s products. Once We R Nuts Management was made aware of the allergens missing from the ingredient label, the formal recall was initiated.

If you or a loved one has suffered losses due to consuming this or any Uncle Giuseppe's product, you may be entitled to compensation. To learn more, contact the trusted attorneys at Breslin and Breslin today.
