There is a massive recall happening at Subaru of America, and it will affect over 541,000 vehicles. The issue stems from certification labels on these vehicles, specifically where they list the gross axle weight for the car.
Because of the errors on these labels, owners could inadvertently overload the vehicle beyond what it has been designed to hold. This can make it much more dangerous to drive and increases the risk of that driver being involved in an accident.
The recall affects a range of different models from Subaru. These include the 2019 to 2026 Ascent, the 2025 to 2026 Forester, the 2025 to 2026 Forester Hybrid and the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid.
For its part, Subaru has acknowledged the error, but so far claims that it does not know of any accidents specifically caused by these labeling mistakes.
