Pizza Product Sold in NJ Recalled for Metal Fragments

by | Mar 27, 2026 | Personal Injury

If you ate this pizza, your health might be at risk.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a recall for HelloFresh’s Basil Pesto & Mozzarella Pizzas distributed to 10 states, and recently classified it as a Class II recall, according to the FDA’s recall notice.

According to the FDA, a Class II recall is when a “product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health” risks.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based firm Bakkavor initiated the recall due to metal fragments being identified in the slow-roasted tomatoes in the product.

Here’s what you need to know about which pizzas are affected, where were they were distributed and what you should do if you have these pizzas.

HelloFresh responded to affected customers informing them that an ingredient supplier was responsible for the metal fragments in the slow-roasted tomatoes, and that customers should throw the product out, according to a notice posted in the r/hellofresh subreddit.

“One of our ingredient suppliers has just informed us that certain lots of slow roasted tomatoes, an ingredient in the Basil Pesto & Mozzarella Pizza, has the potential presence of metal fragments,” the notice read.

“We are reaching out because our records indicate that you ordered the potentially impacted product. If you are in possession of the Basil Pesto & Mozzarella Pizza received on 10/08/25 and through 01/23/26, please discard it,” the notice continued.

If you or a loved one has suffered losses due to consuming these or any HelloFresh product, you may be entitled to compensation. To learn more, contact the trusted and experienced personal injury attorneys at Breslin and Breslin today.
