BrucePac Expands Chicken Recall Over Listeria Concern

by | Oct 29, 2024 | Product Liability

A pre-cooked meat producer, which announced a recall last week, is expanding its recall of ready-to-eat foods containing poultry sold at grocery stores, including  Walmart, Trader Joe’s and Aldi.

Meat supplier BrucePac initiated the recall after routine testing found evidence of listeria contamination on 10 million pounds of meat, including ready-to-eat poultry products.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service first sounded the alarm about the recall on Oct. 9.

Further testing found that the BrucePac ready-to-eat chicken was found in several products on retailers’ shelves, including one found at Costco.

The recalled products were distributed to the following retailers, according to the USDA:

  • Costco
  • Walmart
  • Aldi
  • Target
  • HEB
  • Giant Eagle
  • Kroger

The recalled products are also associated with well-known brand names such as

  • Jenny Craig
  • Atkins
  • Signature Select
  • Boston Market
  • Amazon Fresh
  • Michelina’s
  • Rao’s
  • Dole
