Dole Fresh Vegetables is asking consumers to “immediately” discard Dole-branded packaged salad bags and private-label salad bags due to their possible contamination with listeria, according to a recall notice put out by the U.S. FDA.
The recalled items include pre-packaged salad items that contain iceberg lettuce and were processed at Dole’s Springfield, Ohio, and Soledad, Calif. facilities, the FDA noted.
According to the recall notice, about 36 products from the Springfield facility were distributed to 25 states across the country, and another 36 products from the Soledad facility were distributed to about 30 states.
Dole issued the voluntary recall after testing found that the “harvest equipment used in the harvesting of the raw iceberg lettuce material used in these finished products” contained listeria, the recall notice stated.
“Consumers who still have any of these products in their refrigerators are urged not to consume the product and to discard it immediately,” Dole said.
