How Super Lawyers Selects Attorneys For This Honor
Super Lawyers, which is owned by Thomson Reuters, is designed to offer consumers a trustworthy list of attorneys who are recognized as outstanding in their fields and geographic areas.
To arrive at such a list, Super Lawyers uses a multiphase selection process that begins with nominations by peers or third parties. (Note: Attorneys are not allowed to nominate themselves or campaign on their own behalves, which adds to the credibility of the selection process.)
Next, nominated attorneys are evaluated on 12 indicators of recognition and achievement. These indicators include verdicts and settlements, professional certifications, community service, experience, scholarly lectures and other marks of ability.
Finally, the nominated attorneys are evaluated by peers within their respective areas of practice. Only 5 percent of all attorneys are ultimately selected to the annual Super Lawyers lists.
