Chicken Nuggets Recalled Over Plastic Contamination

On Behalf of | Mar 31, 2016 | Product Liability

The New Jersey product liability attorneys at Breslin and Breslin are reporting that more than 4,500 pounds of Applegate Farms chicken nuggets have been recalled due to possible being contaminated with plastic.

Perdue Foods LLC announced the voluntary recall Saturday, the federal U.S. Department of Agriculture said, due to the fact that the chicken may be contaminated with “extraneous plastic materials.”

The problem was discovered when the Perdue received consumer complaints of small, solid, clear plastic inside the nuggets.

The nuggets were produced Sept. 28, 2015. They are sold in 8-ounce packages with about 18 nuggets in each one. The packages have a “best before date” of Sept. 27, 2016 on them. The products were shipped to retail distribution centers in Pennsylvania and New York. The nuggets are sold at retailers throughout North Jersey, including Whole Foods and ShopRite.

A representative from the Department of Agriculture could not immediately be reached for comment.
