Frozen Corn Recalled Over Listeria Concern

On Behalf of | Nov 28, 2017 | Product Liability

The product liability attorneys at Breslin and Breslin are reporting that Stop & Shop has recalled packages of store-brand frozen corn because it could be contaminated with a germ that causes listeria, a serious infection.

The recall includes 16-ounce packages of whole kernel sweet corn that have a best by date of October 2019, but all packages have been pulled from shelves, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday.

There have been no reports of anyone getting sick after eating the corn.

While healthy people rarely contract listeriosis, it can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea, officials said.

An estimated 1,600 people get listeriosis each year, and about 260 die, the U.S. Center of Disease Control said. Pregnant women, older adults and people with weak immune systems are most likely to contract it.

If you or a loved one has suffered losses from eating this, or any, Stop & Shop product, you may be eligible for compensation. To learn more, contact Breslin and Breslin today.
