40 Million Fire Extinguishers Recalled

On Behalf of | Nov 28, 2017 | Product Liability

The product liability attorneys at Breslin and Breslin are reporting that more than 40 million Kidde fire extinguishers with plastic handles manufactured over a nearly 45-year period have been recalled because they can become clogged or require excessive force to discharge, federal officials said.

The defect contributed to a death in a 2014 car fire following a crash, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement Thursday.

The recall includes models that were previously recalled in 2009 and 2015.

The CPSC has received 391 reports of extinguishers not working correctly. As a result, 16 people were hurt and 91 properties were damaged, officials said. Among the injuries were smoke inhalation or minor burns.

If you or a loved one has been injured or suffered losses due to a malfunctioning fire extinguisher, you may be entitled to compensation. To learn more, contact Breslin and Breslin today.
