Kellogg Recalls Eggo Waffles in New Jersey

On Behalf of | Jan 28, 2017 | Product Liability

The products liability attorneys at Breslin and Breslin are reporting that the Kellogg Company is recalling approximately 10,000 cases of its Eggo Waffles after they were possibly contaminated with the bacteria listeria.

Kellogg said on its website that the only affected product was Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles. No other Eggo products are impacted by the recall, which they are doing voluntarily, according to the company.

No one has fallen sick yet due to the potentially tainted waffles, Kellogg says, and said they are taking the action as part of a “commitment to the health and safety of the people who eat (Kellogg) foods.”

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The affected product is:

  • Kellogg’s ® Eggo® Nutri-Grain® Whole Wheat Waffles
  • UPC Code: 38000 40370
  • “Used by” date will read Nov. 21 or 22 of 2017.
  • The date code can be found on the side of the package. Images of the product can be found on the Kellogg website.

Kellogg said “a series of routine tests” uncovered the possible contamination risk.

If you or a loved one has been sick or suffered injuries from consuming a Kellogg product, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses. To find out if you are eligible to file a claim, contact the product liabilty attorneys at Breslin and Breslin at 201-546-5881
