Popular Tuna Brands Recalled in NJ

On Behalf of | Mar 30, 2016 | Product Liability

The New Jersey product liability attorneys at Breslin and Breslin are reporting that more brands say they’re recalling tens of thousands of tuna cans – including those shipped to New Jersey – because of “life-threatening” contamination that was found.

Bumble Bee and Chicken of the Sea both announced Thursday they’re recalling their tuna because of the health risk.

Bumble Bee said it is recalling cans because of deviations that occurred in a co-pack facility not owned or operated by Bumble Bee.

These deviations were part of the commercial sterilization process and could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens, which could lead to “life-threatening illness if consumed,” according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

There have been no reports of illness associated with these products to date. No other production codes or products are affected by this recall, according to an FDA release.

If you or a loved one has become sick from eating a contaminated food product, you may be entitled to compensation. Those eligible may seek renumeration for damages including, but not limited to, lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering.
