Pistachios Recalled Over Salmonella Concerns

On Behalf of | Mar 31, 2016 | Personal Injury

The New Jersey personal injury attorneys at Breslin and Breslin are reporting that Nature’s Eats Natural Pistachios is recalling 8-ounce packages because of possible salmonella contamination.

In a statement issued Thursday, Boerne (BUR’-nee), Texas-based Texas Star Nut and Food Co. said it was recalling the packages with a lot code of 40262001 and a “best by” date of Jan. 4, 2017. The product was distributed to retail outlets in Texas and Louisiana between Jan. 22 and Feb. 3.

The voluntary recall follows testing of a random sample by a Food and Drug Administration contractor, which detected salmonella contamination.

The company said no illnesses have been reported relating to the product. However, salmonella can cause severe, sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and consumers with weakened immune systems. It can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea and cramps.

If you or a loved one has become ill from ingesting a contaminated food product, you may be entitled to compensation from the food manufacturer. Eligible parties may be able to recoup lost wages, medical bill costs, pain and suffering, as well as other losses.
