New Jersey three-car crash causes one death, two injuries

On Behalf of | Apr 7, 2011 | Car Accidents

Last weekend, a three-vehicle accident occurred on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey, taking the life of one man and injuring two others. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

The car accident, which took place at approximately 11 p.m., began with an initial rear-end collision of two vehicles. However, the incident became much more disastrous when the impact caused one of the vehicles to jump a guardrail, landing in the express lane where it was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle that was forced into the express lane was pronounced dead at the scene. His two passengers were brought to a local hospital, where they were treated for internal injuries and back and neck pains. The driver of the oncoming express lane vehicle was not injured.

The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle that is believed to have caused the accident was not injured. However, he was arrested and charged with DWI. He has been released from police custody but the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The individual who was killed in the accident was the copy editor for the sports page of a local New Jersey newspaper for over 15 years. In a statement, the newspaper’s editor said that his death was a devastating loss for the newspaper and its staff. “To say that he will be missed is just not saying enough,” he said.
